Oprah Winfrey is on a health journey that involves regular workouts. The legendary talk show host was spotted leaving the gym in Santa Barbara, California, on Friday, March 14, according to photos obtained by the Daily Mail.
Winfrey was photographed by nearby paparazzi as she made her way to her car in the rain. She wore a pair of slate-colored leggings and some athletic sneakers, with a hooded jacket shielding her from the weather.
Working out has been a part of Winfrey’s life for many years. She’s been dedicated to getting her body moving and has done all different types of exercises from walking to lifting weights.
The 71-year-old, who has been open about her weight loss struggles over the years, recently opened up about starting a GLP-1 medication. According to The Cleveland Clinic, these types of medications, usually taken by injection, can help treat obesity in various ways. For starters, these medications help curb cravings and limit food noise — something that Winfrey recently talked about on her podcast.
“All these years I thought that thin people — those people — just had more willpower. And then I realized the very first time I took the GLP-1 that, oh, they’re not even thinking about it,” she said on the January 21 episode of The Oprah Podcast.
Winfrey was also involved in the Weight Watchers program for several years. After finding great success with the program, Winfrey joined its board of directors. However, in February 2024, she stepped down from her role, according to Variety.
“I look forward to continuing to advise and collaborate with WeightWatchers and CEO Sima Sistani in elevating the conversation around recognizing obesity as a chronic condition, working to reduce stigma, and advocating for health equity,” Winfrey said at the time.
