A woman has died, and her partner is in police custody after she fell from the seventh floor of an apartment building in Sydney’s west.

Police are investigating the circumstances leading up to the moments the woman, aged 39, fell from a unit balcony on River Road West in Parramatta.

Police were called to the high rise about 1.40am on Thursday after the woman was found on the street suffering multiple serious injuries.

Despite the efforts of police officers who performed CPR on the woman, she died at the scene.

Neighbour Michael Wehbe said he heard a single, female scream at about 12.45am on Thursday.

“It was just like a single yelp, that sort of thing,” he said.

“After that I just woke up this morning to see what happened here.”
