A miniature dachshund’s way of begging for attention has left viewers on TikTok in hysterics, with many sharing that they can spot similarities in how their own pets behave.
When the female dachshund named Basil wants a cuddle, she makes it unmistakably clear. Her hilarious method to getting attention was captured by her owner and then shared to the platform in a post on March 16.
Her owner, who goes by @popsandpups online, filmed the black and tan miniature dachshund standing at her feet, scratching at her knees with urgency and determination. Basil’s message was obvious: it is cuddle time, again.
An overlaid text on the post read: “This is Basil, she is demanding a cuddle…Time since last cuddle: approximately 1 minute.”
The scene played out like a daily ritual. Basil, tail wagging and eyes seemingly locked onto her owner’s, would not take no for an answer.
Basil lives with her owner and another miniature dachshund. The owner, a woman in her 20s, routinely shares snippets of life with her pups, offering viewers on TikTok a window into the close-knit relationship they all share.
The video has led to plenty of laughter among dog lovers across TikTok, racking up over 361,000 views and more than 84,000 likes to date. It is a brief, relatable moment that has struck a chord with viewers who understand the unrelenting affection of pets who know no personal space.
The post’s caption added to the charm: “She could be superglued to me and it still wouldn’t be close enough for her liking.”
The dachshund’s insistence resonated widely with viewers on TikTok, many of whom commented that they can see in Basil’s antics a familiar portrait of their own clingy pets.
“I have one too but we always move around we never have time to lay with her it’s sad,” one viewer said.
Another added: “Dachshunds are superglue dogs, they go so far beyond Velcro.”
“I volunteer to be his cuddle machine,” a third viewer said.
